Our History
Our History – The Birth
Faith Christian Church was birthed in December 2012 through prayer, obedience, and a courageous step of faith. Under the leadership of Pastor Jerry L. Alexander, a faithful group of believers answered God’s call to begin a new work after departing from their former church. Trusting fully in the Lord’s direction, the congregation embraced a new season of ministry, confident that God would order their steps. With humble beginnings and unwavering faith, Faith Christian Church began holding Sunday worship services at the Moose Lodge of Athens, where God met His people faithfully week after week.
From the outset, Faith Christian Church was intentional about nurturing believers of every age. Children and youth were a priority, leading to the establishment of CLIC (Children Learning in Church) and TIP (Teens in Process). These ministries ensured that young hearts and minds were grounded in the Word of God while growing spiritually. Recognizing the importance of education, the church also began providing stipends each October and February to support students pursuing education beyond high school, reinforcing a commitment to both spiritual and personal development.
The Early Years
In the church’s early years, when baptism opportunities were needed, Faith Christian Church partnered with the Athens Church of Christ. This partnership reflected the unity of the body of Christ and a shared mission to fulfill God’s work. As our faith continued to grow, God made a way to purchase land designated for a future campus. This milestone served as a powerful reminder that God’s Promises are fulfilled in His perfect timing.
Faith Christian Church has always believed that faith must extend beyond the building walls. The congregation actively partnered with; Habitat for Humanity to rehabilitate homes for families in need. Other outreach efforts resulted in support for the local women’s shelter through donations of food, clothing, and other essential items. To help alleviate hunger, a partnership was developed with the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia. Since the Christmas season is a wonderful time of sharing, participation with the Salvation Army Angel Tree program provided a blessed opportunity to enlighten the hearts of many children. These acts of service embodied the church’s heart to live out God’s love through action.
The Fulfillment
As God continued to guide the ministry, worship services transitioned from the Moose Lodge to the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Athens. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Faith Christian Church adapted by moving worship into homes through GoToMeeting and Facebook Live platforms. This shift allowed the Faith Fam to remain spiritually connected and use of the technology continues today paired with in-person worship on the second and fourth Sundays. Additionally, Wednesday In The Word virtual evening sessions has provided participants with the tools to enrich their lives and those with whom they share life’s journey.
Even during challenging times, God’s Will prevailed. When one new to the faith a new expressed a desire for baptism, Pastor Alexander and the Faith Fam went directly to his home to fulfill that sacred moment—demonstrating that nothing can hinder God’s purpose when His people are willing.
In 2025, Faith Christian Church remained steadfast in service. The church continued partnering with Habitat for Humanity, hosted a Back-to-School Bookbag Giveaway, and partnered with Cleveland Road Elementary School to support students and families. Each bookbag, filled with essential supplies, reflected the church’s desire to equip children with confidence and provide the tolls required for successful learning outcomes.
Today, Faith Christian Church continues to move forward, as we hold services via Tele-Worship only. Guided by the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:19–20, our story is one of faith, perseverance, service, and obedience. Through every season, we stand firm in our calling—Overcomers in Christ.
